Ah, but we can continue to use economic transformations to fix this. Breaking it apart into a tax and subsidy is only the first step.

Once we have the subsidy, we see that it’s earmarked for housing. But it’s generally better to just give people the money, rather than spend it on things for them (in this case, housing). So we just give people money, regardless of whether they move or not.

Go through enough transformations, and you just get to UBI. Sanity.
